Robert Leland, MD | Foot and Ankle Surgeon

Dr. Robert Leland joined Cornerstone Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in 2021. He is a board-certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and dual fellowship trained in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery and orthopaedic trauma who has practiced in Colorado since 2001. Dr. Leland’s treatment philosophy centers on thoroughly educating patients about their condition and treatment options so they can best be involved in the decision-making process. “There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a patient whose life was adversely impacted by the pain and limitations of their condition regaining the activities that bring them fulfillment. It doesn’t matter if that means return to professional sports or being able to enjoy their children.” He is a member of the Colorado Medical Society, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and AO Alumni.

Prior to working at Cornerstone Orthopaedics, Dr. Leland graduated from the University of Michigan and Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency training at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center. Dr. Leland completed fellowship training in Foot and Ankle Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and Orthopedic Trauma at Universitat Carl Gustav Carus in Dresden, Germany. He subsequently returned to Detroit as Chief of Foot and Ankle Surgery in the Department of Orthopaedics at Wayne State University and Chief of Orthopaedics at the VA Medical Center where he was twice awarded the Teacher of the Year Award. Dr. Leland currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics at the University of Colorado and received the Colonel Alan Bucknell Award for Teacher of the Year in 2020.
