Overview of the Hip

The hip is made up of two bones (the pelvis and the femur), one ligament connecting the two, and three larger ligaments covering the joint. There is also a cartilage layer, protecting the area where the bones connect. The soft tissues are key components of shock absorption and injury prevention within the hips. See the animation for a visual representation of the hip anatomy.
